Job Description:
Qualifications: Shall be fully qualified to lead a USAF Fire Services organization, to include but not limited to, be capable of directing aircraft and structural fire suppression and rescue operations, aircraft egress operations, emergency incident operations, Hazmat operations and have a thorough knowledge of the chemistry of fire, preventive maintenance and operations of fire fighting and rescue equipment, physical and chemical properties of combustible materials, building structures and their component systems (e.g. electrical, gas, water, ventilating systems, fire detection and alarm systems), first aid practices, fire hose and ladder maintenance and operations, fire extinguisher maintenance, firefighting agent characteristics, water distribution, training, technical services and planning operations, water supply operations and maintenance and all other duties associated with a fire chief position.
Shall have knowledge of NFPA, UFC, AFI 32-2001 and USAFE Supplements, USAF instructions and other pertinent fire protection codes and directives. Shall be able to interpret fire protection technical publications, prepare written operating instructions, fire reports and general correspondence concerning fire protection and engineering principles for new and existing construction to correct fire protection deficiencies. Shall act as Senior Fire Officer during major accident responses.
Shall review plans for fire protection engineering and become familiar with applicable host nation and USAF environmental regulations.

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
Experience:
Shall have a minimum of fifteen years fire protection experience, five of them as a Fire Chief and one as Assistant Chief of Operations. Shall have extensive knowledge and practical experience conducting emergency operations involving USAF, ANTO, and other military type aircraft and shall be certified as a Fire Officer IV IAW NFPA 1020 and certified as an Airport Firefighter IAW NFPA. Shall be physically capable of performing all duties required of the position. Shall have knowledge of OSHA regulations, USAF safety directives and NFPA Standards.
Education: Shall be an associate or higher degree in fire protection or equivalent.
Security Clearance: Shall have or be capable of obtaining a “US Secret” security clearance.
